 Canterbury (Episcopal Campus Ministries)
canterbury

The Diocese of Lexington operates College Ministry through Christ Church Cathedral, sponsoring Canterbury groups available to both Transylvania University and The University of Kentucky.

Transylvania University
The Transylvania group is early in development and but we are planning several conversational and book study events.  We seek to provide, as one of our students has said, a forum based on our healthy tradition of “engaging the heart, the soul and the mind simultaneously.”  Some of this will be provided in things like Lenten Book Studies and we will also make use of a coffee house approach.

The University of Kentucky
The UK group meets at Canterbury House, which is at St. Augustine’s Chapel at 472 Rose Street every Wednesday evening when classes are in session from 4:30-7:30 p.m.  Although most of our students are Episcopal, it is not a requirement!  We meet for fellowship, food and worship. We also attend some of the Sunday evening worship opportunities such as Evensong and Celtic Eucharist at Christ Church Cathedral.  The group is committed to being hospitable to all faith traditions, although the focus of worship is Episcopal.   We also engage actively with the other Canterbury Clubs in the Diocese of Lexington in terms of mission, outreach and fellowship.

We have some great students already involved and would love for you to be a part of it!

 Theology on Tap
theology on tap

Theology on Tap is outreach to and collaboration with young adults in pursuit of spiritual growth. It is a method of invitation, based on a spirit of hospitality, which creates a space for people in their 20s and 30s to explore how faith in Christ can speak to their circumstances. This program has proven to be a successful vehicle for reaching young adults interested in learning more about their faith, coming together to share community, and feeling welcomed and valued. The Episcopal Church welcomes young adults regardless of their faith community or tradition.

Theology on Tap is structured around relevant faith topics of interest to young adults. We allow time for discussion, faith sharing, and community building in a theological context.

Young adults can sometimes be overlooked to the extent that even their absence goes unnoticed. Properly implemented, Theology on Tap becomes a means of evangelization, bringing this population into view. It reaches young adults where they are, while inviting them to discover how faith can inform and give sense to their everyday lives.

The Diocese of Lexington’s Theology on Tap meets on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Monday of the month at Sutton's on Richmond Road from 6:30-8:30pm.
